Book Week 2025 was a fantastic celebration of literature and creativity at our school, with the theme “Book an Adventure.” Each classroom embraced the spirit of Book Week with unique activities and themes, making it a memorable experience for all the children. Here’s a look at what each class did:

Brolgas

The Brolga class focused on Eric Carle’s beloved books, especially “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” The week was filled with fun activities under this theme, including props and story baskets for dramatic play, a photo booth, and a special bookshelf with Eric Carle’s books. The children used the props to retell the story and even created their own caterpillar snacks using grapes, sultanas, and strawberries. They described the colors, textures, and tastes of the snacks, using rich language like “smooth,” “squishy,” “sweet,” and “a little wrinkly.” The room was filled with creativity and laughter as the children enjoyed their caterpillar snacks.

Cockatiels

The Cockatiel class celebrated Book Week with lots of excitement and laughter. The children arrived dressed in their favorite costumes and chose books from the book area. The class focused on emotional stories, with teachers acting out different emotions for the children to share and understand their feelings. They decorated small balls with different emotions and played a game where they threw these balls into a large box decorated by the children. The whole school gathered in the Lorikeets class for a parade, where each class had their turn marching around, dancing, and singing. The Cockatiel children proudly showed off their favorite books and costumes.

Kookaburras

The Kookaburra class had a lovely day with a parade that included other classes. The staff from various areas also dressed up as characters from “Snow White,” making it a very fun day for everyone. The children enjoyed seeing the staff in their costumes and participating in the parade.

Lorikeets

The Lorikeet class had a wonderful time celebrating Book Week with a variety of costumes representing book characters. The day was filled with reading books, engaging in book-related craft activities, and a Book Week parade. The whole school gathered in the Lorikeet class for the parade, where the children and staff showed off their costumes. In the afternoon, they enjoyed a teddy bears’ picnic in the playground after reading “The Teddy Bears’ Picnic.” The children had a great time and appreciated the support from their parents in preparing the costumes.

Book Week 2025 was a delightful celebration of stories and imagination. We are grateful to all the teachers, parents, and children who made this week so special. We look forward to more literary adventures in the future!
